This goal will be accomplished by considering the status of pre-service science teacher education programs addressing needs of Hispanic students in K-12 science classrooms; what programs exist; the effectiveness of existing programs; differences between programs; and differences in the knowledge and skill base required by science teachers who successfully assist southeastern Hispanic student populations as compared to Hispanic, mostly new, Mexican and Mexican American populations in longer established communities.
